Project Engineer - Wastewater Treatment Process Design

A variety of responsibilities is what makes this role exciting! You will engage with various types of work to ensure the successful completion of projects. This includes mass and flow balances, design of treatment system upgrades, hydraulic modeling, pumping system design, project management, construction oversight, operational efficiency reviews, equipment selection, automation upgrades, bench scale treatment testing, and pit dewatering planning. You will also work with multi-disciplinary teams including geotechnical, civil, mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineers to meet our client’s expectations and needs. Job Description: Responsibilities include project/task management; engineering/process design; budget and schedule development; and monitoring and promoting relationships with existing and prospective clients. Willingness to travel on temporary assignments as needed (up to 15%).

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct analyses, create drawings, and draft specifications
  • Ensure the preparation of work products
  • Serve as a technical advisor for water treatment and process design
  • Develop scopes and budgets for proposals
  • Act as the Client representative overseeing construction projects

Requirements:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in the design, piping, and pumping systems
  • 5+ years of experience in process design, construction, and operations preferred
  • P.E. license in Colorado or ability to obtain one
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus

Experience in the following areas:

  • Designing engineering systems, including process, mechanical, piping, and pumping systems
  • Overseeing operating systems
  • Leading and mentoring junior technical staff
  • Managing and overseeing construction projects
  • Estimating costs
  • Preparing procurement and construction specifications
  • Scheduling and managing subcontractors
  • Working independently and productively with minimal supervision
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members, and individuals
