This is a rare opportunity to take on a senior accounting role in a hyper-growth global business, where you’ll ensure compliance with Japan’s local standards while partnering closely with international teams.
What You’ll Do
• Lead the full spectrum of finance responsibilities in Japan, including month-end close, financial and management reporting, forecasting, and budget support.
• Prepare and submit Japanese statutory accounts, tax returns, and corporate filings in line with Japanese GAAP and local regulations.
• Partner with outsourced providers, external auditors, and tax agents to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
• Support implementation of transfer pricing, consumption tax, and withholding tax compliance.
• Strengthen internal controls in line with SOX requirements and group policy.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
• Provide finance support to business leaders in Japan and act as a bridge to global finance teams.
What We’re Looking For
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent, plus CPA Japan / CPA US / ACCA or similar certification.
• 7+ years of relevant accounting experience, with a minimum of 4 years at a Big 4 accounting firm.
• Strong knowledge of Japanese tax, corporate law, and statutory requirements.
• Experience with Japanese GAAP; familiarity with US GAAP and SOX compliance is an advantage.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA or other ERP systems preferred.
• Excellent English communication skills. Fluency in Japanese(written and spoken) is required.
