O&M Manager, BESS Operations
Location: Santiago, Chile
We are representing a global renewable energy technology provider operating large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets across Chile. As part of continued growth, they are seeking an experienced O&M Manager to take ownership of live BESS plant operations, ensuring safe, reliable, and high-performing assets connected to the Chilean grid. This is a hands-on operational role with accountability for plant availability, maintenance execution, safety performance, and incident response.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own day-to-day operational performance, availability, and reliability of utility-scale BESS plants in Chile.
- Monitor plant performance, alarms, degradation trends, and system anomalies, ensuring rapid issue identification and resolution.
- Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programmes in line with OEM requirements and warranties.
- Act as the senior operational lead during plant outages, faults, and critical incidents, driving safe and timely recovery.
- Maintain full accountability for HSE performance, site safety systems, and compliance with Chilean regulations.
- Coordinate and manage OEMs, subcontractors, and service partners, ensuring quality, safety, and technical compliance.
- Manage spare parts, critical components, and site logistics to minimise downtime and operational risk.
- Deliver O&M services against contractual KPIs, SLAs, and availability guarantees, acting as the primary escalation point.
- Produce accurate operational reporting covering faults, downtime, maintenance activities, and performance trends.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance asset performance, reliability, and lifecycle value.
Requirements:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline
- Strong experience in BESS operations and maintenance, or utility-scale renewable assets with storage exposure
- Solid technical understanding of BESS systems, including batteries, PCS, AC/DC systems, and LV/MV infrastructure
- Proven experience managing live operating assets, outages, and critical incidents
- Experience working with OEMs, EPCs, and third-party O&M providers
- Strong safety leadership and operational decision-making skills
- Fluent Spanish required; working proficiency in English
- Willingness to travel to operational sites across Chile
