The Opportunity

Spencer Ogden is currently seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to support the delivery of major Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and energy infrastructure projects across the EMEA region.

This is a 12-month contract opportunity, offering remote working from Germany with occasional travel across EMEA. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering civil and structural engineering solutions for large-scale BESS, substations, solar projects, power plants and associated energy infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Design and detail steel and concrete structures for BESS and wider energy infrastructure projects.

Produce detailed civil and structural engineering drawings using AutoCAD/ZWCAD, including site equipment, foundation, drainage and HV substation layouts.

Design specialist structures including pile foundations, transformer bunds, firewalls, equipment supports, control room buildings, cable pits and switch room foundations.

Deliver civil design solutions covering site grading, drainage, temporary roads, soakaway pits, fencing, equipment supports and container foundations.

Review and check engineering and construction drawings for accuracy, quality and compliance.

Undertake structural modelling and analysis using Robot, STAAD.Pro, ETABS, RAM Connection and Tekla.

Prepare and review civil and structural design calculations in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

Coordinate with lead engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.

Respond to technical queries, RFIs and construction requirements.

Provide technical support to site and construction teams.

Ensure drawings and engineering documentation are delivered to agreed project schedules.

Travel across the EMEA region when required.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.

Minimum 5 years' relevant civil/structural engineering experience.

Strong experience in civil design for BESS, substations, power plants, solar or other utility-scale energy infrastructure.

Strong understanding of foundations, drainage, equipment anchoring and associated civil works.

Experience with HV substation design is highly desirable.

Previous experience within an EPC environment supporting high-voltage, renewable energy or conventional power generation projects.

Good knowledge of applicable European/EMEA engineering codes, standards and regulations.

Proficiency with AutoCAD/ZWCAD and relevant structural analysis software.

Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Solution-oriented approach with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Fluent English.

Willingness to undertake occasional international travel across EMEA.
