Position Summary
An experienced Automation & SCADA Engineer to support commissioning, installation, and technical advisory activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of automation and SCADA systems integrated with power generation and industrial control equipment, ensuring reliable and safe plant operation in line with GE Vernova's engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities
• Configure, program, and commission SCADA systems, PLCs, HMIs, and DCS platforms for power generation and industrial automation applications.
• Perform system integration, testing, and validation of automation architecture across control, protection, and communication layers.
• Lead or support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for automation and SCADA packages.
• Troubleshoot and resolve automation/SCADA faults during commissioning and operational phases, minimizing downtime.
• Interface with third-party automation vendors, OEM suppliers, and plant control systems to ensure seamless integration.
• Develop and maintain control logic, HMI graphics, alarm management, and historian/reporting configurations.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards for industrial control systems (ICS/OT security best practices).
• Provide on-site technical support during installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and warranty periods.
• Prepare technical documentation including functional design specifications (FDS), I/O lists, network architecture diagrams, and commissioning reports.
• Collaborate with RM/Technical Advisors, Electrical, and Mechanical teams to resolve cross-disciplinary issues during field execution.
• Support training and knowledge transfer to junior engineers, technicians, and client operations staff.
• Participate in risk assessments, HAZOP reviews, and safety walk-downs related to automation and control systems.
• Travel to project sites as required, with flexibility for extended on-site assignments.

Required Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience:
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in automation and SCADA system engineering, commissioning, or field service, preferably within power generation, oil & gas, or heavy industrial sectors.
• Proven experience with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Schneider, GE Mark VIe/VIeS, or equivalent platforms).
• Experience with SCADA/HMI software (e.g., Wonderware, Ignition, WinCC, iFIX, Cimplicity, or similar).
• Demonstrated experience in FAT/SAT execution and field commissioning of control systems.
• Experience working with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC, Profibus/Profinet, Ethernet/IP).
Technical Skills:
• Strong understanding of control system architecture, network topology, and I/O design.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles for OT/ICS environments (NERC CIP, IEC 62443, or equivalent frameworks is a plus).
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and loop diagrams.
• Proficiency with diagnostic and troubleshooting tools for automation hardware/software.
Certifications (Preferred, not mandatory):
• Vendor-specific PLC/SCADA certifications (Siemens, Rockwell, GE, Schneider, etc.)
• Certified Automation Professional (CAP) or equivalent
• ICS/OT cybersecurity certification (e.g., GICSP) is an advantage
Soft Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability under field/operational pressure
• Clear written and verbal communication skills (English required; Arabic a plus)
• Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary field teams
• Willingness to travel and work flexible/extended hours during outages or commissioning windows

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
• Role involves on-site field activity at power plant/industrial sites.
• May require work in outdoor, high-temperature, or confined-space environments with appropriate PPE.
• Occasional shift work, weekend, or holiday coverage may be required during critical commissioning phases.
