Regional Sales Director – South Africa (Renewable Energy Solutions)

The Opportunity
We are supporting the appointment of a senior Regional Sales Director to lead market expansion across South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa for advanced renewable energy and decarbonisation solutions. This leadership role will be responsible for driving regional sales strategy, business development, and key account growth across a portfolio of integrated energy solutions, including wind, energy storage (BESS), hydrogen, and zero-carbon industrial park solutions.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping market entry, building strategic partnerships, and delivering sustainable commercial growth in a rapidly evolving energy transition landscape
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the regional sales strategy across South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa in line with overall business objectives.
- Drive business development initiatives to expand market presence and build a strong project pipeline.
- Lead the full sales lifecycle, from opportunity identification and bid management to contract negotiation and closure.
- Achieve regional sales targets and revenue growth through effective planning and execution.
- Manage and grow key strategic accounts, including utilities, developers, EPCs, and large industrial clients.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders across the energy ecosystem, including partners, clients, and government bodies.
- Oversee end-to-end sales management for complex technical and CAPEX-driven renewable energy solutions.
- Conduct market analysis and provide strategic insights to support market entry and expansion decisions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with technical, commercial, and delivery teams to ensure competitive proposals and successful project execution.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a regional sales team, setting KPIs and driving performance accountability.
- Strengthen regional brand positioning through strategic partnerships and ecosystem engagement.
- Ensure accurate forecasting, reporting, and continuous improvement of sales processes and methodologies.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree or above (Engineering, Business, or related discipline preferred)
- 10+ years of B2B sales experience, with at least 5+ years in renewable energy sales leadership
- Strong track record in selling complex technical solutions or large-scale CAPEX projects
- Experience within renewable energy (wind, solar, BESS), power infrastructure, or large industrial equipment sectors
- Demonstrated success managing regional markets in South Africa or Sub-Saharan Africa
- Proven experience leading and managing sales teams of 10+ members
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a multicultural and matrix organisation
